Medical Director- GSK Australia

Reporting into the General Manager for GSK Australia and the Regional Medical Director for Greater China and Intercontinental, this is a critical, high profile role for the business.  As the Medical Director, you will be accountable for developing and executing the Medical Affairs strategy and plans, in close cross-functional collaboration to ensure patient-focussed outcomes.

As a critical member of our executive leadership team you will have overall accountability for defining and implementing the vision and strategy for the GSK medical directorate.

Your responsibilities will be broad and will include:

  • Developing, inspiring and sustaining a high performing medical team as well continuing to promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Medical governance, risk management, regulatory and pharmacovigilance accountabilities including considerations relating to patient safety.
  • Medical leadership for our COVID 19 Crisis Management Team and Issue Management Teams
  • Providing high quality medical and scientific strategic input, guidance and insights to support the broader GSK Australia business.
  • Accountability for operational excellence against key metrics to assist in driving the business’ commercial objectives.
  • Working closely with commercial colleagues to ensure alignment of strategy and to provide leadership input into both operational and strategic decision-making processes
  • Being an Ambassador for GSK in the Australia healthcare market forging strong relationships with external experts, HCP’s, regulators and thought leaders.
  • Ensuring GSK Australia’s interests are effectively represented and managed within GSK globally and regionally.

We have a cohesive and collaborative leadership team in Australia and as such it is vital that you share our philosophy of putting our values of patient focus, integrity, respect for people and transparency at the heart of every decision we make.

In addition to this you will have:

  • Extensive experience in strategic medical affairs leadership roles preferably at Medical Director level.
  • A medical degree/MBBS equivalent (preferred)
  • A sound working knowledge of the Australian healthcare environment.
  • A commitment to the highest standards of ethical medical practice and governance.
  • A high degree of skill in evaluation, presentation and application of scientific evidence and risk management principles.

Associate Medical Director- respiratory and specialty care

Due to an internal promotion an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Medical Director to lead our high performing respiratory and specialty medical teams.

Reporting into the Medical Director GSK Australia, this is a critical, strategic and high-profile role for the business. In addition to coaching and inspiring the GSK respiratory and specialty medical teams you will be accountable for:

  • Development and execution of the medical strategy for GSK Australia respiratory and specialty
  • Providing subject matter expertise on developments in the respiratory and specialty therapeutic areas including competitor activity as well as keeping up to date with GSK pipeline products and activities.
  • Working hand in hand with the GSK commercial Leads to ensure quality delivery against plan.
  • Ensuring GSK Australia’s interests are effectively represented and managed within GSK globally and regionally.
  • Building and developing relationships with external experts in the respiratory and specialty field and representing GSK in relevant scientific forums, committees and events.
  • Medical governance, risk management, regulatory and pharmacovigilance accountabilities.
  • Provision of medical expertise to support “best in class” launches for GSK pipeline assets.

We are looking for:

  • An experienced and strategic medical leader with extensive respiratory expertise and networks as a priority. Experience with specialty medicines especially in the launch setting would be an advantage.
  • Significant work experience in medical affairs roles in the pharmaceutical industry to at least Senior Medical Advisor level or equivalent.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in respiratory medicine. A medical degree (MBBS equivalent) is preferred but would consider a PhD or a related qualification.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience working in a complex, matrix environment.
  • A passion for developing people.
  • High levels of ethics and integrity putting the patient at the heart of all decisions.
